A Southern Happy

Yesterday was a good day. There were several ingredients that went into that good day. Here are few:

  • Vacation Bible School
  • Great conversations with a couple of friends
  • Sweet tears of camaraderie
  • Fabulous lunch with fabulous friends
  • Laughing over silly stuff with fab friends
  • A new (much thinner) cover for my phone
  • More silliness
  • Baby wrens and bluebirds
  • Picking fresh, FAT blackberries and blueberries
  • More laughing
One of the good things was a conversation with Candace, an amazing lady from my SS class. Candace has a great heart. Moreover, she is a good listener and generous with encouraging words. What a wonderful combination. We made a connection, and it felt good to know someone else knew how my heart felt.

Later I met up with another friend, Jack. She invited me to lunch with her and her husband. Oh, what a treat. We had yummy food and a seriously fun time. I just love when you are your silliest and your friends are in on the antics.

After lunch we went back to J & M's house to do a little work. They are getting ready to sell and move away. J & M have magnificent berry bushes, and the most unbelievable fig tree I've EVER seen. (It is over 2 stories tall and over 20 feet wide!)

Thankfully, I got to take a TON of blackberries home. And since I was so blessed I thought it would be fun to share. I took a large jar and filled it with berries for Candace. It was supposed to be a "thank you" for the needed encouragement. But honestly, I think I got more joy from picking and packaging the gift as anyone could have gotten from receiving it.

Seriously, is there anything better than giving someone a happy? I think not.

TaterBug Day (Episode 6.13.11)

TaterBug Days are the best! Any time spent with Caitie Bug is precious. We have a special day about once a month. This week we decided to have a little artsy fun. Unfortunately it was SO stinking hot, so we only got to do about half of the things we had planned. Bug and I decided to save the other activities for cooler weather. So stay tuned for a TaterBug Day later in the Fall... and all the TB Days in between. (BTW, the picture quality isn't the best... but we were using an old camera... and we weren't that concerned.)

We started out with breakfast at Chick-Fil-A. It wasn't hot yet, so we ate outside. There's nothing better to start the day than with a straw wrapper moustache.

After breakfast we ran a few errands then made our way to the River Market. We had fun drawing each other with bright sidewalk chalk. I wasn't sure we were going to get finished. We were laughing so hard I almost had to use my inhaler.

This is James, the FABULOUS River Market security guard. He came outside to tell us we couldn't draw in the Farmer's Market (even though it was a weekday and empty). I told him it was chalk and offered to clean it up. He was so sweet. He said he would have someone spray it off. I think he thought we were a little silly. He was right!

So we decided to draw on the actual sidewalk. A gentleman, with one of the property management companies in that area, smiled and asked if we were having a good time. We were!

This was meant to be the Sun, but it looks a lot like a sunflower. Either way it's cute, and we hope it made someone smile.

We also had fun with a few friends on our outing. By this time we were melting, so we decided to save our other ideas and head indoors. We stopped at a mall and bought cute, skinny, bangle bracelets. CB got a set of green and I got a set of pink. Then we traded half of each set, so we each had two hot green and two hot pink. (I didn't get a picture. You'll just have to trust me that they are super cute and super fun.)

After the mall we went to the $1 theater. The movie wasn't nearly as much fun as the company. Since the movie was so cheap we shared popcorn and a soda. After the movie we did a little window shopping and met more adorable friends.

Next up was a trip to Pei Wei. Bug and I love the Orange Peel Chicken. It's a little bit spicy and a whole lot yummy. We also went to Francesca's and bought mini bottles of fingernail polish. Finally we bounced into The Container Store where we picked up a few items for our next outing. I think you guys will get a kick out of that idea when you see it.

The last stop was to give Mama and Daddy a smile. The best part was not being able to see when we walked in the door. We stood by Dad's recliner and waited for him to say something. We couldn't hear anything and thought he must have been out of the room. After about a minute, Caitie peeked out from under her glasses to find Daddy staring at us and shaking his head.

We made our way down the hall and knocked on Mama's bedroom door. Between being blind and giggling hysterically, we almost didn't make it. Mama opened the door and actually yelped out loud. When she collected herself she started laughing too.

What a splendiferous day! I don't know what the next TBD will hold, but I know it will be FUN!
